MODEK is the only manufacturer of transparent roof sheeting in Africa, including both Fibreglass, otherwise known as glass reinforced polyester (GRP) and Polycarbonate (PC). In addition to being the market leader in South Africa, MODEK is one of the key providers of this range of products into world markets.

GRP and PC are of course the two most widely used profiled roof light materials in the world, manufactured to match the many different cladding profile shapes needed within the global market. Modek has also introduced a new non-fragile GRP roof light, called “Walk-On” which increases the safety of rooflights in industrial or commercial buildings during construction and maintenance.

The products are used as “roof windows” to allow natural light into a building, e.g. a dark warehouse, which reduces warehouse lighting costs, or as side cladding. Our products are used by mines, industrial parks, stadia and shopping centres but are also available to the public through major retailers. The product is popular among DIY enthusiasts because it is easy to use, cut and shape when constructing awnings or car ports. Modek released a DIY brochure for its do-it-yourself clients in 2011, which was then featured in SA Home Handyman Magazine.
